cleaning connector on trolling motor

My trolling motor is permanently attached on the bow, and has a wire harness with a connector for the foot pedal (an older model). The pins in the connector show some corrosion (blue/green coating) and its finicky.. have to fiddle with it to get the contacts and motor to work.  How do I clean the darn thing?

The foot pedal on/off on my Minn Kota was acting up the other day .I could get it to turn but it not turn on and off by foot pressure I had to use  the continuous switch which was a pain.. I used a piece of fine sandpaper on the contacts and it took care of the problem.

How compulsive are you? If extreme get a harbor freight hand held mini or spot , sand blaster and fill it with baking soda go to town, rinse ,dry immediately, and grease.
