Ventured out on the ice yesterday and although it was a slow, pick I managed to get 22 smelt (enough for a meal). Ice was a bit sloppy but by later in the day wasn't too bad and with a couple cold nights should be easy to move on by foot or with my ATV.

Smelt are the best I usually get mine in the afternoon in about 45 fow and as it gets darker I get them about 10ft below the ice. The last time I went I got about 100 of them in about 2 hours

I want to try at night with a lantern as I hear they will come near the surface.
