Crappie bite

I don't think it's legal to sell them downstate? I know perch get sold up North, but haven't heard of anyone selling them locally. I'd always been under the impression that if there's a limit on a freshwater species, you can't sell them.

I'd be interested in hearing from somebody who knows the facts. Not that I'd want to sell them myself, but just FYI, you know.

Oh, and if anyone wants to share a pm about crappie at Honeoye, my inbox is available  ;)

Since I am home and not fishing, I posted the regs. However, the part I did not post said that you can sell certain fish - including crappie and walleye - if legally caught in another state and you get the appropriate permits from a regional DEC office. I would imagine that those permits are not free and are not easy to obtain.

I don't think it's on yet. I watched several boats yesterday and didn't see anyone hooking up. Saw a lot of boat movement. No one parked on a spot and stayed there. By the early afternoon they were all gone. Much lighter boat traffic today. Unfortunately, my schedule dictates my fishing times and, with the exception of opening night of Walleye (emphasis on the "night"), I won't be fishing any time soon.
