Marsh Opposite of Conesus Lake Inlet - Anyone ever fish? See tons of dead carp

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever hit that marsh up in a canoe or kayak?  Man it's beautiful to look out there.  When there last week to see the Walleye spawning in the inlet, noticed anywhere from 40-50 dead carp floating or near the shore.  Any other fish make it over the dam area or maybe dropped by birds?  Looks like a BASS paradise, but probably too shallow.......

The DEC in their infinite wisdom drained that pond and killed every last fish in it, to promote "wetland vegetation growth" a few years ago.  So I really doubt there is much of anything in there.  There is also a drain that empties back into the lake.  I would imagine that everything makes its way back to the lake.  And there is an eagles nest back there that you cannot go near, I would leave it alone.

I saw about dozen pike by the race way a few weeks ago. I do not know how many fish remain up there but I would think you would only be able to fish it before july and then it would be next to impossible with all of the growth. Also, the birds of prey probably pick off a lot of the fish. I have seen yakers go up in there but for bird watching. It is a beautiful area with a lot of life to it. That place has the biggest water snakes I have ever seen. Plenty of food for them to eat. I have always thought there would be a nice largemouth population up in there but if you try it and do well don't post it. The marsh is better left alone. A few of these places need to be left unmolested. You can apreciate it from the trails.
