A question about cooler limits

I see some tournaments have 4 fish cooler limits. If a team has their 4 fish, are they allowed to cull?

Depends on the tournament rules.......but with a 4 fish box absolutely you can cull as long as you stay within your NYS daily limit.

No you cannot cull if it means throwing your already boated and likely dead fish back. You should never do this, tournament or not. However, if you have 2 people aboard, you can keep 6 fish and just weigh in your biggest 4, if tournament rules allow.

Nothing says that when you cull you are throwing a dead fish back in the water to make a better box. That would be illegal......

Correct, which was why I was trying to clarify. If you land it, snap a picture, and throw it back that is fine if tournament rules allow it. Taking it out of your cooler (after any amount of time) and throwing it back is not ok.
