When you run a small boat, it is challenging to get out deep so you have to make the runs when you get the chance. Forecast for this weekend looks calm. I got out deep last Sunday morning and only boated two fish but one made the LOC Derby Steelhead leaderboard. I intend to get my daughter on the youth leaderboard this weekend. I launch out of Bear Creek. Little blue Lund pulled by white Tahoe. Say Hi if you're a LOU member. My forecast is for a slow bite but some quality fish will be caught and a few put on the Derby board. While I would love a 35lb salmon to win the $25k I think my chances are better getting another long Steelhead

Nice job Jacob! I too run out of Bear Creek, we met the day the heavens opened up and poured on us. I have the Rinker, and silver Dodge. I like your setup, quick and easy to run. I am planning for Saturday morning.

Great fish!  I ran deep the other night on a solo trip and got a few kings.  Kind of tough with a small boat but not a sole was out there and was very peaceful.   I am sure that won't be the case on weekends.   We run down that way quite often.   I also have a small boat 22' for that lake but when it calm it's great to be way out there.  Good luck and hope you have more success.

I dont like combate fishing too mush and I think I would enjoy the Steelhead fishing while everyone eles is still fishing Salmon. How far down are the steelhead? I dont have a temp prob. I just started fishing Lake Ontario this year( Very expensive) so Its on the list for next season. Thanks in Advance!! Good luck on the LOC Derby!
