Canandaigua Lake

Hello, I am new to this forum and I am heading up there next week. I am from Dallas, Texas and am looking to get into some bass. Can someone give any insight to the bass bite on this lake? My wife's family lives down near Bolivar. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Never fished any lake in NY before, only small ponds. I am wanting to land smallies. Never caught one before and want to experiance the fight. Also, if you do not mind, what are they biteing on? I am planning on ship[ping up my own gear to use and would like to have what is needed. I also posted this in the finger lake discussion thread also.
