VHF Radio recommendation

Hey guys... I am looking to upgrade the old VHF radio thats on my rig with something new and was looking for some recommendations.  I definitely want DSC/AIS but i'm having a hard time justifying the extra cash for something that has an internal GPS when I have NMEA 1083 outputs on my Garmin 73DV.  Did anyone recently purchase a VHF radio and if so could you tell me which radio you purchased and your experience with it?  I have been looking at the following units:

Well, If i would have searched correctly instead of one specific part of the forum I would have found a bunch of reviews/same questions.

 

I decided to go with the standard horizon gx1700.

I just installed this Standard Horizon with DSC/AIS but haven't used it much yet. I could see the big boats coming through the Cape Cod Canal relative to our position in the AIS mode and that could be helpful in the fog. I have yet to figure out how to use the built in hailer and fog signals which could also be helpful. But most of all it's comforting to know that with DSC, the push of a button makes that Mayday call for you... But for DSC to work you have to apply for an MMSI number and enter that number into the radio.
