6/3 Otisco

Recommended Posts

Went for a quick evening troll just to get out in the water while we had a chance this weekend. Fished from 630 to 9 with nothing to show but weeds here and there. Found large schools of bait in 45-60 fow, suspended from 10 to 25 ft down. Fished that until the sun started going down and then moved in tight to 20-30 fow. Managed one 23-1/2" just after the sun went down on a green gander glo stinger with a small snap weight. Weed mats were too much to deal with in the dark so we called it quits around 10.

Skip the trolling gear and cast... use your trolling motor and your ears...there are fish just starting to move back up after the dramatic warm up. Weeds aren't bad casting yet at all. Not that trolling can't work if you scout a section to work in daylight....

I wanna take a minute to thank Justin for his hospitality last night.   He invited me to his waters to throw some sticks around.  It was a great time and he is very knowledgeable.   The fishing was tough but what a night to to be on the water to sponge up some info.    It's guys like that that make this board great.

The heavy rain here has the lake over the docks and lots of debris.  In addition to that heavy weedcutting efforts this week have massive weed mats floating in many areas.  To top it off bait action and subsequent predatory action was shut down last night from what I saw.  Tiger fishing is still good though.  If you are looking for walleye I'd wait a few days.

Well the water hasn't warmed much,52 sat afternoon, but overall things are shaping up.   Walleye We are just starting to catch casting at night in several locations.  Bait is just starting to show up so things will continue to improve.  Weeds aren't a factor yet, but will be in couple weeks.  Daytime trolling is also producing on shelves in 15-20 fow.  It's a tough troll unless you have an accurate map and boards are the play.  I boated 7 and released 5 between casting and trollin

    • Otisco tiger report

The tiger musky bite is as good as I've seen it right now and the weeds are still below the surface enough to fish over them trolling or casting.  Anyone looking to catch tigers it's a great time to give it a go!  Mix it up between floaters and suspended lures until you figure out which they prefer.  Same goes with speed.  There are numbers and some size if you pick thru them.  Usually fast is how we think of fishing them, but I had excellent results going extremely slow on a couple recent outin

    • Otisco opening weekend

I wish I could say I am exhausted from all the fish I caught, but it was tough opener for me.  Friday night we fished from 12 till Dawn and never even saw an eye.  Saturday we casted for tigers in the middle of the day and didn't see a single tiger.  Saturday evening I decided to load some trolling rods and work some deeper water.  I ended up missing a couple fish and landing 2 tigers.  Sunday I put the riggers on and ran a full spread hoping to figure something out.  I ended up losing several f
