Finder settings

Recommended Posts

I've been out a few times over the last week, with decent luck. Problem is, I'm fishing blind. Pulling steelies between 50-80. Finder won't mark below 50. I'm using the default/factory settings on a Lowrance Elite HDI. I can troll for hours pulling up a few, but, never marking anything under 50ft. Anything I can change to start seeing below that mark?

I have the Elite HDI also. Are you on 83 or 200? 200 is for 50' and shallower. 83 is for deep water. Set mode to freshwater fishing, surface clarity to medium, noise rejection to medium, adjust sensitivity to 62% and color line to 60% (you can tweak these once you get a basic setting that works). Auto range is ok but doesn't allow you to adjust the zoom. When fishing over 300' or deeper, I like 2x zoom to see the top 150' in greater detail.
