I wouldn't be surprised if the salmon and trout being snagged and poached in our streams are being sold in NYC restaurants as sushi.

Even legally taken salmon could be sold on the markets. The USA imports four billion to three trillion dollars of seafood annually depending on the information sources. There are tremendous markets here and legal controls are overwhelmed.
