There is a fair chance that they will not survive the big meat grinder of the Niagara falls.  Ground up and killed they will probably increase the nutrient flow into Lake Ontario.

It is not the ones that take the ride over the falls you worry about, it is the ones that slide down the Weilland Canal, no meat grinder there.

The biggest concern is what they will consume nutrient-wise in Lake Erie. Not only would that affect the carrying capacity of gamefish in Lake Erie, but also Lake Ontario. 80% of Ontarios water comes from Lake Erie via the Niagara. IMO, the "clean water act" does more damage than good and should be immediately revisited. Sterile, crystal clear lakes are comforting to some, but hold low densities of gamefish.

Right, but if these fish were deemed to come from American waters via Chicago waterway then it is only reasonable to think those leapers are going to get in too.
