Durand Ponds

Does anyone have input on the ice fishing in the ponds along Lakeshore Blvd in Irondequoit.  Noticed several guys on the ice yesterday.  Catching anything, or just getting out of the house ??  Worthwhile fishing ??  Any comments.   Thanks,  Willi

I have fished it before many moons ago. Loaded with largemouth bass, some over 5lbs, and small panfish. We caught one pike also. Altogether we landed over 25 bass. can't keep them I believe. A DEC cop pulled over and was watching us for awhile. This was over 30yrs ago.

lots of undersized gills.  A few bass.  Doesn't fish like it did years ago.

In the late 60's and early 70's it was closed to fishing. When we were very young our dad would take us there and show us exploding largemouth by tossing sticks in the water. There was a window in time when it was first opened to fishing when the LM bass fishing was excellent.

I know its deep enough to drown an ice fisherman so use caution if you try.
