flasher and flies

Do you usually match the color of the flashers to the flies? I bought a bunch of spin doctors on a whim a the expo and would like to know how to set them up.

It all depends - some guys like to match them and some don't.  Typically I move things around until I get a combo that starts firing and then that combo stays together until it goes cold.  After you do that a while you get an idea of what will work and when.   List the attractors that you bought and I will bet you will get a bunch of people chiming in with what fly goes best behind it.....

Any of these will do! But Purple Mirage, Big Fin, 42nd Street, Pro Am, Glow Hammer are a few favorites!

X2- I match my spoons to my flies that are in my rigger mix also to start. Leader length and distance!

That is entirely your choice. I can honestly say I don't think I've ever intentionally matched my spinnies and flies and I've always done well. I like running white on white with the glow spin doctor and the green mt dew and occasionally on dark days I'll run black with the glow. And just choose your. Leader length is important rule of thumb for me 24-26 inches. Sometimes they like them longer sometimes shorter it all depends
