Humminbird 597 not saving settings

I have a hummingbird 597 set up for ice fishing but every time I turn it off with the power button it resets to the previous settings. I use this unit as a GPS only in the boat. I have 2 597s as one came with the boat when I bought it and had the other on my old boat and save it.

But every time I turn the unit on I have to go through all the settings from turning the sonar on to the advanced mode, etc. I have tried researching it but have not found anything other than I may need to update, last update was last spring/summer I think. I have also used this in the summer on a Canada trip as I have a spare transducer and had the same issue there with the settings. I am getting good at remembering the settings but its a pain.

Maybe try resetting it to the factory defaults and starting over. I had to do it on my Lowrance and then update on top of it.
