Ive got 24 30lb leaders with size 2 vmc short shank treble hooks. Hooks are all snelled.

Switching to 40lb leaders. Just want to unload these. I also have a roughly 10 others with beads and single hook already rigged up ready to go, there are probably more than that if i anymore ill throw them in at no extra charge. So approx 34 rigs total. Just want to unload them. 20 bucks shipped to the lower 48

Definitely cant hurt. I wouldnt go that light. Most guys will tell you that you need 40-50 i always look at it as this. You wouldnt use it for your leaders you use for your spoons or sliders so why should a fly need it?

You need the higher lb for the fly leader so that the fly whips around rather than just sit there behind a flasher.

Vetting nailed it. It's so your flasher/dodger can impart more action to the fly behind it.

I didn't exactly know the reasoning behind it. I still dont see why it wouldnt whip around though. Pmd you offshore
