Olcott to Wilson June 17 morning to 1230

Recommended Posts

Lost a couple small ones early IN ABOUT 140 fow. Lots of boats were out around 90 to 180 FOW. I finally caught two steelhead and a coho salmon off Wilson in 320 FOW. got two on a slide diver 100 feet back but no idea how deep. No line counter. Got one on rigger at 60 feet down spin doctor and fly today for all.

I had such high hopes, but for me it was slow, although I eventually boated three for my limit. I could see afew fish at 40 and 50 feet down, nothing deeper. saw some bait balls out in 300 fow. I really did not see many people using the net today.

Good luck to everyone, headed home yesterday early morning.

I might be back not sure.

I am going to fish for stripers and Haddock next weekend.

Haddock fishing has been very good on Stellwagen bank, best I have seen in years as I have been twice and easily caught 100 plus fish with my friends.

Laurie, I am interested in fishing for haddock too. Is it too far out or too rough water to fish stellwagen,? I have 19 foot real deep boat for lake Ontario.

Hey garrymny.

Your boat would be fine, just need to select the right day weather wise.

I see many boats your size on the bank.

The Haddock are on the middle bank and also in the north west corner currently.

You could launch out of Gloucester, behind the high school, nice launch...think it is $5

Also could launch out of green harbor in marsh field ma.

Both launches to the bank depending on location are approximately 20 plus mile run.

Thanks Laurie. I think I will make a trip someday. It's about a seven hour drive to Gloucester. I will plan on staying for a few days to fish. Where do I get gps lat long so I can navigate to the spot with my GPS? Just the basic area, I'm not asking for a specific secret underwater hot spot. Thanks again.

I went last weekend for haddock. 25+miles out but very good dishing. We kept our 4 man limit (60) and caught many more

So did you trailer your own boat or do a charter? And where did you Launch?

yeah 20+ miles is a fair stretch for my 1974 Johnson that pushes me along at 19-20 mph.  It runs great but...not sure if the 9.9 kicker would get me back. I haven't ruled it out yet though!  I always like to it myself, if feasible.

Here are some approx. numbers of where I fished in the spring for Haddock.

Just look for the boats (charter and head boats) and head in their direction.

If you have radar, then it is easy to find the fleet especially on the weekend.

42.15 N  70.32 W  - South West Corner (fished this area this year)

42.27 N 70.23W - Middle Bank East Side (fished this area last year)

nice video, finally got a chance to watch it. Looks pretty calm that day. Steady action too. Gotta love saltwater fishing.

My favorite eating fish is cod but from your video they are protected?

Temporarily shut down (last 3 years) as there are "so few of them". It was tongue in cheek as they were plentiful for us. Limit on haddock is 15 and pollack is unlimited
