Walkins fishing

Cayuta creek is about a 15min drive from Watkins Glen. I've never fished it, but I pass it frequently traveling between Canandaigua and Binghamton. It does look like a nice trout stream and I'm pretty sure its open to fishing year round.
Or you could throw some lures off the rocks at the Marina park in Watkins. I threw some lures in Geneva last week and hooked up on my third cast. Spit the hook, but it felt like a landlocked. Did land a decent pike though.

If the stream is open for trout it will be listed in the special regulations by county.  I used to live in Binghamton, and looked at Cayuta a lot on rides up to Ithaca, it does look like a trout stream, but my recollection is that a Biologist I spoke with said it was too warm for trout except in the headwaters.  A lot could have changed since then, I would check the regulations by County and the stocking lists, and if it is not in the regs and is in the stocking list, it's not legal for trout until April 1.  If I were planning to be in the Glen now, though, I would try the pier and cast spoons for landlocks or whatever else was around, likely a lot more action for a lot less work.  You might have to do some door knocking to get access on Cayuta.

X2. You never know what you may hook into off the pier at any time of the year and it is right nearby the Show.

It happens. When I first moved up here from Binghamton I got skunked during deer season. Only time in 22 years that's happened.
I've been scouting these hills every chance I get.
I took a plump doe during bow, a small buck during crossbow and a nice 9pt opening day of gun.
I called in & shot 1 yote. Between calling & trapping I took 11 fox.
