This warm weather will hopefully help a bit with surface temps . Maybe get us on the dance floor at 50+. Forecasted winds are south westerly 9 with gusts of 14. Chop shouldn't be a problem, lol. Lets hope for a little cloud cover and see what happens. Good luck to all! Be safe out there.

Yeah chop will be plenty but the cold water off the lake will be blowing into the bay which is going to shut things down a bit on top of the building pressure from Friday night. Ugghhhh another difficult opener.

Hey guys so I’m thinking about trying BRB this weekend at some point. Might wait until Monday for the crowds to die down but I’ve never actually fished it. I’ve read some articles and old reports. Is the delta of the river the best bet to start? I’m not a troller. I like to jig mostly but I’ll throw cranks and sticks if I have to. Just looking for any basic tips. I know it’s a popular spot

The docks are in at Chaumont boat launch and long point state park. Good luck to everyone and it looks like I won’t be able to get out until Monday morning

I was out Saturday a.m. after a night of an enormous blow. I think it f-ed them up for at least the day. We had good screens, no takers. We were in the lake near the mouth of Chaumont.

We had a great day Saturday but today not so hot, planning on hitting it again tomorrow.

We almost managed our 2 man limit but three one my son caught fell short. Managed a nice pike and silver bass too. The 2nd picture of a walleye (after the pike) weighed in at 10lbs. 6oz. And the 5th picture the eye weighed 7lbs. 15oz. All in all good opening day. received_2178660068817939.jpegreceived_2177839115566701.jpeg20180505_191813.jpg20180505_194930.jpg20180505_144909.jpg20180505_084751(0).jpg

Nice !!!

Thanks guys, it was tough fishing we didn't fish in just one spot I think we covered close to 15 miles of water. We were all over the bay. Started by Point Salubrious trolled down the side of cherry where we picked up our first eye. Headed out into the lake looking for some warmer water made the turn towards Pt. Peninsula had some good screens had one hit but dropped it before we could make it to the pole. Decided to head back up into the bay had another taker and dropped it after a couple reels. Lots of short strikes this past weekend, had hits on riggers with spoons but no one was home.

I'm guessing the fish were turned off on Sunday because of the Bar. pressure switch and finally started getting back into it Monday after it leveled off and there was a slight chop. Wanted to fish Monday but had to work on the FIL outboard on his newly acquired boat. He went out Monday evening after I headed home and got a nice 8 and a 3 pounder. All day Monday the bay was like glass with high sun basically the worse walleye conditions. The bay is frigid still with our best surface temps around 50* so over that deep water it has to be mid 40s.

There wasn't any real pattern they were hitting more than another. Bay rats, Smithwicks, Storms Jr. and Full sized, and Matzuo all took fish, I we had a Yozuri that took the silver bass but can't remember for sure. I think anything with a wide wobble would have been good.

Had a great trip! The fishin was pretty average for a opener weekend. We got our fish all over the place, we fished from deep in the bays to out on the lake an each spot was giving up fish. My dad wanted new scenery so that's what I have him. Lots of marks on the graph but wad tricky getting them to bite. Had my dad an son on the boat an 4 generations of fisherman at our cottage!

Thanks for the report! I've been marking bait and fish in and around the bay and points since the season opener but I haven't found a hungry walleye yet. I've even gone out twice in the middle of the week when there's little to no boat traffic. I'm trying to go out tomorrow if I can find a fishing partner.
