Speechless... 6 hours straight of pure MADNESS!

The fish pushed both myself, the gear and the group to our limits today but when the going got tough, we put it in high gear and kept on chugging.

One for the archives thats for sure!

Anyone else ever experienced a planer board turned dipsey diver?

Enjoy,

Dan

Nice video and catch! Were the fleas much of an issue?

I’m going for the first time out of Olcott this Sunday/Monday and running 2 dipsy rods and a high line with a 4 oz torpedo weight. I’m considering swapping 30lb braid for 50 lb big game to try to fight the fleas. Any thoughts?

If you have any tips for depth or patterns I’d really appreciate it. Small boat w/o riggers or temp sensor.

I’ve got some gear coming in; flashers, spoons, flies, meat rigs. Just trying to figure out where/what to start with.

Loved the report. Nice video editing too.

There's a particular brand of planer board that I don't believe is made any more which had an unfortunate tendency to turn upside down and "go Dipsy". After a few such incidents they were replaced with Otter boats. Chinese. Fire. Drill.

I used to own that brand!  It certainly made for some interesting cluster F**ks!

At the risk of asking a really stupid question, was the fish at the 9:24 mark a steelhead?  I'm not familiar with Great Lakes fish.

Yes and one beautiful specimen at that!
