Salmon Chop

Recommended Posts

A lake trout chop is when you either take a steak hatchet to the flesh or as they limply thrash about and unspin as they approach the boat. Just too many of these fish in the lakes especially Kueka! On a real note salmon like the cover of chop or prop wash probably cause this throws the bait fish off of line and they become more likely to be obtained at that point?

Mosy salmon and trout species will hit better when you have a surface chop as opposed to a flat calm surface. Especially if there in the top 50 feet or so of the water columb. I believe it diffusses the light penitration and the fish are not as skitterish and spooky. Also breaks up the outline of the boat going over them. No hard evidence of this just what I've seen from experience.
