4.3 l omc rebuild

I have a 1984 Penn Yan with an omc cobra engine and out drive I have to rebuild the engine can I use regular parts from an automotive store or are they marine parts inside the motor thanks for the info in advance

I have a 5.8l omc cobra 351 ford windsor and use all marine parts for replacements.

The main engine components such as gaskets and stuff I used Felpro marine kits and bearings I use Clevite bearings for the rods and crank. Use the best machinist you know to have the heads, block, crank and rods done. Have him install the cam bearings. I ordered the exact same goodies as far as oil pump water pump timing chain & gears also important to match the camshaft so lift and duration is the same. Good luck.

I have three 4.3 OMC engines that have cracked blocks.  I sold the intakes off two of them and the exhaust manifolds on all three are cracked but lots of other parts left over.  If you want a bunch of spare parts I'll make you a great deal.

I previously had a few omc cobra engines. Used car parts often EXCEPT do not use car head gaskets. Marine head gaskets are Stainless Steel. Car head gaskets don't last well in a non closed cooling situation, especially in salt water
