That picture is also going to be my future. My search Sunday three hours trudging through 2 feet of water in a swamp turned up empty. To make matters worse I pulled the camera 80 yards from the direction he came and got to see exactly which buck he was six minutes before the shot. Unfortunately I’m going to have to go through the rest of the season knowing he was the biggest buck I ever had a chance at. I can only hope he somehow shows back up on camera

With all the rain Saturday we decided to take a road trip to look at elk. Hard to believe they are as close as Dubois pa. We saw well over 100 with some impressive bulls in the mix. We actually heard a few still bugling too. Pretty cool day. My nephews girlfriend took a cell pic through my binocs of the biggest one.

Had a client meeting in cortland county this morning. A 4 pt had his nose to the ground crossing a rural county road..... no rush. Not a care. Lol. Its hard to stay focused at work when u see stuff like that.

Sorry to hear that. It's never a good feeling.

October 30

34 degrees
SW wind 5-10 mph
Mostly sunny
Crisp, cold, frosty morning.

Raccoons, coyote, squirrels, and a few deer. Saw a young buck with his nose to the ground chase a doe from a bedding area. A few other deer in and out of the corn but never got the binocs on them. Textbook perfect morning but nothing to fling an arrow at.

So I’ve got this big boy on a very small 7 acre piece I hunt...my question for the pros, is it worth hunting him now hoping a doe or calls bring him out early. Maybe I hold off and not blow up the spot to see if his pattern changes closer to shooting light as time goes on. Any ideas

How often are you getting pictures?

What time of day?

Direction of travel?

Is he bedding on the property? Any idea where he is bedding?

Pics are about every other day or so same times generally hour be sun up and an hour after. The property is more of pass through spot. Only secluded bedding 10 acre overgrown orchard is about about 300 yards behind my stand to the west and 800yards to my east. I’m thinking mornings I have the potential of bumping him but then again he’s about every other day. Also none of the farms around have food sources in them anymore. So my only real advantage is low hunting pressure and decent cover on both ends

I would wait until he is moving during day light or damn close to it. Big mature bucks know when the doe's are ready unlike the 1st and 2nd racked bucks. If he gets bumped out there's are good chance your out of luck! Believe me I know it happened to me this year with a buck I was chasing that was moving during daylight and I thought I had it in a bag. Before I knew a doe got killed right near is core area and had to be retrieved two Thursdays ago. By Friday evening he was a mile and a half north and DEAD!

This is the outcome of a bumped mature buck when you had him dead to rights!imagejpeg_0.jpeg

Stupid question matt, was that deer shot off Manitou, near ridge,  some years back?
