12lb should work fine. I don't like to go to light. Guy that go to light end up losing tackle and that costs money. I use 20lb myself. A lot of people say that's to heavy. But I've never had a fish brake my line. My team and I seem to do ok in tournament with the heavier line. So somewhere between 12 and 20 is where you want to be. I also do 30ft leaders.

10-12 lb good quality fluoro (e.g. not Vanish if you want to keep your tackle) on riggers, toplines  etc. You can go heavier on the stuff that is run deeper or bottom oriented stuff.

I like thin braided 4 to 6 pound test. I use a tiny snap to connect my thin Sutton spoon to it. troll it slow. nice action. this works nice for finger lakes and lake Erie walleye for me. no stretch with super braid line. 10 ft leader.
