Deep V Aluminum

Whats every ones opinion on the Best Deep V Aluminum Boat out there? Thinking 19' -21', Also looking for one with an Outboard ! Looking for the widest most stable Boat I can get! Thinking of Downsizing from my Fiberglass boat !

My Crestliner Sabre is 3ft deep from floor to gunwale. The cuddy cabin is great for storing all my fishing gear. Lots of room for fighting & landing fish. The Sabres with outboards feel like bigger boats than they are.

Mine isn't for sale, but fishing with me one day might get you hooked on a Sabre:smile:

Todd, your Sabre is a nice deep boat I'd love to go out some time and check it out. Im hoping to get back up to Jims camp in July for a few days. Maybe we can get together. Thanks Paul

I'm keeping my boat in my driveway this year and launching at the Isthmus. Let me know when you'll be in the area and we'll plan a fishing trip.

Going to get a lot of answers & opinions here on this one. Assuming this is for trolling Lake O? Or are you looking for a multi species boat?

Here is my 2 cents. In 25+ years of boat ownership I have had many different Aluminum boats, Starcraft, Tracker, Smokercraft, Monark and some others. I personally don't think there is a "Best Boat" its what is best for you.... size, layout, features and cost among other things need to be taken into consideration.

If you want a cuddy the Older Crestliner Sabre's & Stracraft Islanders are a favorite among many. Open style boats the Starcraft's (Fishmaster & Super Fisherman) Lunds and Crestliners are well liked.

If the budget is fairly loose the west coast style welded aluminum boats are hard to beat. Kingfisher, Northriver, Hewescraft, Duckworth and several others. These style boats are very common from the California coast to Alaska. Starting to see more here in the Great Lakes.

I own a Starcraft Fishmaster 210. Great boat for Lake Ontario. Great warranty and tows very easy. Check em out...
I fished on a friend's FM 210 last week for the 1st time, wow what a nice ride, was thoroughly impressed with it! Deep, roomy, tons of storage, I really liked it.

I love my new 2050 commander. Super deep and nice toe kicks for leaning over the boat . Lots of storage and not one piece of plastic on the boat . The only piece of plastic is the wash down cover and housing. Everything is all welded Dash windshield glove compartment everything is all metal. Should last me the rest of my life20180929_143229.thumb.jpeg.89d75b3676d456c05e484973b1086954.jpeg20190407_121754.thumb.jpeg.c1c5830552179b450920073c483a32da.jpeg20180929_143430.thumb.jpeg.437fe992ba5b7a906bfeb509079c9532.jpeg20180929_143332.thumb.jpeg.a57ba6ed6cdb07a3867a9600006e656c.jpeg20180929_135835.thumb.jpeg.a0e7a73457ff64534b13b1d96cf75033.jpeg20180929_143307.thumb.jpeg.9951f5622a6f7cc95218fa0095e659d9.jpeg20180901_110911.thumb.jpeg.ad78e2f5462dc5db3664ac1f730d30bc.jpeg

I will give you a suggestion from personal experience.

Buy an older used Hull and deck it out from new motor to new electrics

A 30 year old Hull is better than a 15 year old motor

This is very good advice if you’re going to keep it! If you’re unsure of what you want and think you may change in a year or 2 this is a great way to lose a pile of money because the resale isn’t there.

Make sure you factor rigging into your budget. My buddy and I bought boats about the same time I payed 1/4 of what he payed and put 10k into rigging with electronics, riggers, rod holders etc. he can’t afford to properly rig his boat so we fish mine 90% of the time because fishing his boat sucks!

I own a 1987 sea nymph fish and ski

Put a brand new 2011 90 HP etec on it with new controls/ wiring/ battery

new scotty 2116

new humminbird fishfinder

new fish hawk

new planner mast

Basically everything on it is new and higher end and was in probbably 1/2 to 1/3 of what a 10-5 15 year old Lund would have been

look up west coast salmon boats. They are the elite aluminum. Kingfisher, Willie, HughsCraft, Smokercraft phantom, Crestliner commander, Thunder Jet. Any plate aluminum boat is the route I would go.

Regarding your tracks, were you able to access the underside of the gunwales to through bolt them or did you have to rivet them? How long are they? Sorry OP not trying to jack your thread.

The gunnels are boxed . I drilled through the top and bottom. Then I ran a long 3 inch bolt through both sides and used heavy fender washers with lock washers and nuts . The gunnels are exposed for rod storage

I don't think you will find a newer boat that is as deep as the older boats. I forget how deep my 19ft Sea Nymph was, a 1987 model, and I think it was just over 7ft wide.
