Went out solo and set up about 6:30pm in 100ft of water with a stiff north-east wind. Since there was a good chop decided to go aggressive with my presentation and put two dipsy rods out with flasher and fly, one set at 2, 175 out and the other at 2, 150 feet. That rod gets hit hard and the fish takes 400 feet off my rod. I could tell this was going to be my biggest salmon ever. Slowly brought him in and when I got him near the boat he just wouldn't come up to the surface. Had a hell of a time getting him in the net. Netting a fish solo is always an adventure and I should have shortened up the leader between the dipsy and flasher before sending it out. This is my third year fishing Lake O and I hadn't been able to get a fish over 20lbs so that was my goal this year. Weighed in at 22lbs.

Thanks, guys. I'm going to be spending a week at Cayuga next week with friends and family. It's going to be a little anticlimactic catching Finger lake trout and hopefully some salmon compared to what you can catch on Lake O.

Ric can you tell me how long of a leader you run from the Dipsey to the Flasher? Also do you use snap swivel at both connections?

I usually run a leader that is about the length of the rod I'm using. I use either a snap swivel or sometimes use this wire connector- don't know what they are called but they are used on the Finger lakes when guys are using Seth Green multiple leader rigs. At the other end I just use the snap swivel that comes with the flasher- Spin Drs mostly on my dipsey rods
