Notice: Due to high water levels, a local state of emergency order for a “No Wake Zone” has been established for boats 1,000 feet from the Lake Ontario shoreline and tributaries. All motorized boats within 1,000 feet of the shoreline and within these waterways must operate at an idle speed.

Notice: Now through Labor Day, New York State is offering free fishing on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. Also, 30 state parks along the shores are offering half-price vehicle entry and camping.

Lake Ontario/Oswego River report:

According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters:

It’s been a crazy week with all kinds of weather and all kinds of bites. We have fished from 70 feet of water to over 600 feet of water. The fishing conditions have been changing like the weather and with the weather.

According to Capts. Robin and Todd Sheltra of Strike Zone Charters:

Fishing was good for salmon at the end of last week and then it fell apart. We then switched to fishing for browns which have been filling the cooler for us. Catching a few salmon mixed in with the browns also.

According to Oz Angling Tackle:

The lake fishing has been nothing short of amazing this summer. Many boats are having success early and often, “boxing out” just a few hours into trolling. The kings are biting voraciously on a number of different spoons, flies, meat rigs and flasher patterns. A lot of fish are being caught out beyond 300 feet of water, often suspending around 90-100 feet down. You can often expect them to be in a little shallower at sunrise and around sunset.
