Big king

Recommended Posts

Definitely is a nice fish but can’t see it weigh anywhere near 40lbs unless it had 10lbs of lead in the gut.  I have a pic of a striper i caught a few years back and I’m possing almost the same way for the pic. The striper was caught on lake wallenpaupack. Weighed 33lb 4oz. 42in on official scale. I just had to put the pics next to each other to compare

The head is too big! When they get into the 30 lb range the head looks too small for there body. I’d bet this fish would is in the mid twenties at best. Nice fish for sure but not close to 40 by a long shot.

If you have not weighed a lot of a certain fish it is hard to tell. Before i ever owned a scale i caught tons of 30+ lb salmon and carp. Had many 20+ lb pike and even caught 50+ smallmouth over 5 lbs in a day with 10 over 7-8. After i bought that first scale my fishing took a turn for the worse. The 30 lb salmon turned into 16-18's. The 20+ pike dropped to 8-9 and the 5 lb bass were 3's and the 8's turned to 5's. What a bummer reality is.

With the stocking cuts and bait that is out in the lake it's only a matter of time before the 30+ lb kings will make a big comeback. In 2012 on lake Michigan you could not catch a king over 20lbs. Fast forward 7 years later and now it's rare to catch one under 20lbs this year. The difference is 2012 was 30 king limits in a couple hours. 2019 30 kings in 20 days of fishing.

I didn’t think it looked that big either. This one was a little over thirty pounds, 42 inches and looks bigger than the one she is holding.8BC0A643-7662-4AE4-BD17-4752E548E3ED.thumb.jpeg.6a7c1405454141362791988116a126c8.jpeg
Bob did you Photoshop an 18 pounder? LOL. Nice one. Biggest ever on my boat was 22. I can't imagine a monster like that!

Definitely not a 42 lb fish, after comparison to the other pics.
