BROWN TROUT MOUNT

I recently did a brown trout mount for a client that wanted to make his own base. He is a pipeline welder and made this base completely from metal. All cut and burnished with a torch. In 30 years of doing taxidermy I've never seen anything like it. It is so unique I thought I would share a picture.

Cant tell it from pic but that fish is 30". Whole thing weighs about 35 lbs with all that metal...lol

My question is,...  Does your taxidermy require the Fish itself, or do you do this from just pictures ?

I can do it either way. Skin mount or Replica. This particular fish was caught in Montana and several pictures made the paint job easier to produce authenticity to this fish. Since fish lose color when they die, it is great if the client can provide pictures of when the fish is alive. For a replica this is really important, along with length, weight and girth. With more people practicing catch and release, Replicas are gaining popularity, but they are pricier.
