Split rings or not?

What is the consensus with split rings on spoons? I noticed some come with them in the package and some do not. Do split rings give spoons more action? Do large gap barrell swivels to the same thing?

West Coast salmon fisher men use solid welded rings. Rapala J13 split rings have straighten out on
me with big Kings on. Luhr Jensen salmon lures use only solid rings.

I've also had some straighten out. I run spoons now hooked to the snap.

Many times I've wondered about the use of snap swivels to expedite changing lures. You were very informative.

Split rings are a another source of potential failure. Rings come off and I just use a duolock snap. Leader goes to a ball bearing swivel. Leader length is from tip of rod tip to the reel.

Copper Rapala split rings straighten and release big kings.
