Can you Splice Copper?

Had a huge tangle July 4 with my 300 copper and a wire dipsey. Had to cut out 30 feet section of Copper in the middle. Can it be spliced back together so I have. 270 copper? I just twisted it together to get it back on the reel and retrieve my gear.

Mend in a spro swivel with haywire twist on the copper ends.

Thanks I didn't have any spro swivels so I twisted them together and covered them with heat shrink.

Check out the blood run website. They have info on splicing copper. They recommend replacing copper with a splice, but they also sell line. I have run mine spliced for a couple days, but I only get a few shots a year at salmon, so I end up replacing it pretty quickly.
