Kicker on big boats

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if the 20hp would do it or not. I have been told I would be better off to go with a 30hp. My other concern is if I remove swim platform I have no energy way to get back in the boat. Im pretty sure that is a coast guard requirement.

I run a Yamaha T25 high thrust on Aquasport 290 express. I have it on a Kicker Jack, mounted to the transom. I have the factory controls to start and put it in gear, then I run a Controllking for my throttle control. My buddy has a 31 tiara he put the same engine and throttle control on. Both boats have no problems at all with that motor.

Do you have any pictures of the mounts by chance. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to mount one if I do it. Thanks for your time and help

This is the unit I bought. He has a stationary mount on his tiara. I like the kicker jack because I have raise and lower the motor in the water for rough days, no cavitation. I can also change the oil on the water without any issues. I split my platform down the middle, so I have a platform on either side of the motor. Works great for doing maintenance and cleaning.

Couple of boats on Lake Michigan are running large kickers. There is a 35 ft bertram with a 125 hp four stroke kicker. And also a 38 ft tiara running a 90 hp suzuki four stroke.

We have a boat in Ashtabula where the guy had a small 4 cylinder merc i/o installed in his Wellcraft Coastal 330. Looks kinda neat out of the water.
