Beautiful deer.  Great job. I will say , the last picture has a LOT of familiar looking 3 leaf plants. Shower soon..

Tons of it. I hope with all the excitement the boys don’t get it too bad.

October 3 am
45 degrees
Partly sunny
Wsw wind 5mph

Deer everywhere this morning. Saw them on the drive there, on the walk to the stand, and while in the stand. Only a couple of small buck and the rest flatheads. Easily a 25+ deer day.

Well she was 10 yards from where I lost blood and she laid down so neatly there was no white belly. Found her in 3 minutes in the daylight. I went double lunged through the bottom and cut the major heart artery. Barely any freaking blood and she acted like nothing happened. Absolutely wild. Not a great look for my Magnus Stingers which I am using for the first time. Amazing pass through, but where is the blood!!!! Anyway happy that one less matriarch is off of this doe circus.

And the third one made us work have 6 mile trek into the mountains away from the rest of the hunters. We finally got our third buck Totaling13 miles for day one. We rest on day to and went back out this morning. For day three and finished out my two doe tags tagged out and ready to come back to ny

Taking the morning off, trying not to Old Spice too many stands early in the season. But speaking of stinking up stands, here's a couple of pictures from last night. I'm getting routine coyote movement in one area, and while there were deer moving through prior to the coyotes, there has been nothing since. Last year, a neighbor reported hearing lots and lots of yipping and howling, and our deer sightings were really low. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm hoping to let a friend of a friend trap this winter, but until then I guess my best best is to arrow one. It's too suburban for shooting them rifle after dark, unfortunately.

Nope, from a tree stand about 19 ft up, but the doe was on the high side so it was prob more like 15 ft up from where she was.

October 4 am
46 degrees
Partly cloudy
S wind 5-10

Certainly seemed like a good morning to be in the woods. Apparently I was wrong.

I got to my parking spot this morning. Shut my headlights off and pulled into the field. Got out of my truck and something was stinking. Grabbed my flashlight and someone dumped salmon carcasses in the field and I drove right through them. The stink is still on my truck btw.
I got all my gear on and noticed that the field wasn't 100 percent cut yet. I didn't want to walk through and damage the soy beans so I packed up my stuff and went around the block. Long walk in.

Of course the only deer I see all day is when I was walking in. Buck. On the edge of the beans. Big enough rack to see in the dark. Tough to judge.

Got into the and got situated. Reached into my jacket pocket and took a thorn under the nail of my middle finger. Spent the next five minutes trying to remove it in the dark.

Heard a mess of turkeys but never laid eyes on them. A fox. Squirrels. Geese. No deer from stand.

Checked a camera on the way out. 3000 pictures of a thorn bush branch. Ughh

Three fresh scrapes on the walk out though. The one pictured is historically always there.

A very long morning....
