Sailor missing on Lake Ontario

He left Oakville alone on 30 ft. sailboat for short sail across to south shore ; his boat was found adrift off of Rochester NY [ that's a long drift ] with no one on it ! 68 yoa and 30 years sailing experience . Last PM the Canadian Coast Guard has called off the search ! ? Another sad lesson in life jacket use .

While I agree about using life jackets while going out solo I also don't presume he wasn't wearing one. Most sail boaters I see are wearing them ,more so than fishermen .Usually they have a safety cable that is attached to the cable railings as well . Could of been a medical thing and until they find the body I would not rush to judgment . Could be in a life jacket floating out there .RIP.

With the water temps out there, hypothermia would be a real concern after any period of time in th water, with or without a lifejacket. Sorry to hear about this...
