Hi

I'm new to the finger lakes.I fished a half dozen times last year and did pretty well on Michigan Stingers.I see post on flies being used. Would like to get any advice on what to use and if they are used the same as spoons. Appreciate any help.

Although the Finger Lakes have similarities they also have important differences as well. It could prove helpful to mention the particular lake (s) you are interested in and the particular species and what specific setups you have or intend to use.

I will try this again I guess the first reply didn't go through. I mostly fished Cayuga. Was using down riggers,leadcore and an occasional dippsy. Fished mostly over 100 feet for Lakers. Used 3 3/4 Michigan Stingers. We also picked up a few landlocked and bows.

Flies are good during the cold temps when the fish are on top, need to be fished 200 ft back as not to spook them. Tandem preferred for a better hook. One medium split shot 2 feet up is my preference.

You can run Dreanweaver flashers with a trailer fly off your dipsey and catch lakers practically year round.  I'm a fan of A-Tomik flies but others may have personal preferences. White or green white combos do well.  Pics from this year show some examples.
