How deep are the lakers mexico/port area

Recommended Posts

That's good news,
We're up for a week.
If we didn't catch fish, it wouldn't be the first time.

Re: Lakers,
How deep are you fishing?

For example "150-190 west of the plant",

I'm assuming that's 150-190 feet of water.
How deep do you run your lures in 150-190 feet of water?

Or do you just futz with them until you flash or catch a fish?

I personally run 50/50 mix of spoons and sticks. Sometimes they favor one over the other, sometimes it doesn’t matter. I run straight 12 lb big game mono with small snap swivels so it’s easy to change lures. When shallow I run without any weight. When out in 12 fow or deeper I add spit shot or use 2 or 3 color leadcore off the boards and drop riggers deeper.
Spoons can certainly hang up and cause problems if your boards stall so it’s critical to watch your turns. I like running a good spread 6-8 lures so fish can tell me what they want as it changes day to day. That said it is better to start with small spread and build as you get experience. When bite is on a 4 lure spread is plenty to keep you busy.

Yeah I fished 150-190 FOW just west of the plant. I run mine my gear right off bottom. Big Laker bite today! Good Luck!
