Cajun Red Line, Who uses it?

Recommended Posts

I was watching a deep sea fishing show this past weekend. They were using the cajun red line for some big game saltwater fishing. They were discussing it's excellent knot strength etc. I had read also that it will disappear in the water column regardless of it's red color outside of the water. I used Berkely big game in various line weights last season and was not disappointed. I need to re-line a few of my reels and was wondering if anyone uses this stuff on Lake Ontario and if you noticed an increase in hook ups or less break offs. I may just buy a spool if the line works well. The price seems to good to be true. Let me know please. Thanks.

REPEATE to good to be true...it is ...i got 5 rolls you can have if i didnt toss it yet .you should be able to decrease your catch rate to 1/5 th of what you would normally do with reg mono.If the dust on top of the package is thicker than the package then that might tell you something. P.S. terrable knot strength

This subject usually gets some interesting responses. I used the Cajun Advantage 15 lb. line last year without issue until the fleas showed up. It is important to know that there are a few different Cajun mono offerings. I personally found the knot strength on the Advantage line to be good. Perhaps others that have had negative experiences were using Red Lightnin' or the Red Cast line? It's all personal preference, but I like the line, and find it to be an excellent value. I'm not sure how much I buy in to the "invisibility" claim, but so far I am satisfied.

The Cajun line-up is here:

Strangely enough, other well known manufacturers are offering red line:

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I got some info on the Cajun Red Line from my local tackle shop. Shakespeare Fishing line who makes the cajun red was bought out by Stren who will market it under the blood red line who is now owned by Berkely who I thought was Strens main competitor. He also went on to name the other various fishing companies owned by Berkley. I guess they are now a huge conglomerate buying most of the US share of the fishing market.

I agree with you LS, I'm going into my third season using 30lb Cajun on my mono rods and I can't say one bad thing about it. I have had no knot strength issues, nor have I lost any fish due to breakoffs.
