I want to take a trip to the bar in the spring. Never been and all I  hear about it is its a bucket list trip. Looking for info on launches, depth,  baits etc. I have a 18 ft aluminum I troll all summer with out of bear creek.  Ill be driving from just east of Rochester.

Thank you

Dave

The best fishing is the "drop off " ! goes from ~ 60 fow to ~120 fow ! I have only trolled never tried jigging ; spoons are #1 then dodger fly or cut bait ! Can get a little crowded at times with US & Canadian fishermen ! Lake trout are the #1 catch ; there is plenty of information on this site !

May king trolling can be phenomenal.  You can fish anywhere from the Niagara river to Olcott. With the smaller boat you can follow the fish. I will be the the end of May for the holiday weekend. 20 fish days are common.

I fish the bar quite frequently

I have most luck with just riggers and slide divers.

lots of structure, but be mindful of the outflow current, underwater current, waves, surface temps and international boarder
