Giant Chain Pickerel

I came across this photo online so I put it on my website http://www.bpspinners.com/morecoolfishingstuff.html Its at the very bottom. I think this has to be the largest ever photographed because it was only 2 oz shy of 9 lbs. The world record caught in Georgia was 9 lb. 6 oz but no photo. If you get one 5 lbs, thats considered a trophy. Those things fight very well and I like em alot on light tackle. BP

Here is a 28" incher I caught through the ice on Canadaigua this past February. A nice one for sure, but pickeral this size are not uncommon in many of the Finger Lakes. Hemlock and Canadice have some big ones....

I have caught a few on Hemlock in the 5-6 lb range trolling the shoreline. They are aggresive and can be taken casting the shoreline also on small spinners tipped with mister twisters or mister twisters alone off a jig head.

In this area, (Finger Lakes) I don't think they get much bigger than 6, maybe 7lbs. ...maybe.

anyone have any use for them?between me and my buddy sat we caught over 30 on oneida,and they hit anything we put in the water.is it true they will eat any thing and every thing?

Yes.... they're use is they are a sportfish that is fun to catch on light tackle. Come mid summer they are not as easy to catch as now. They have the coolest markings of just about any fish. BP
