Planer Reel attachment

I have Big Jon planer reels clamped onto the  vertical rails of my center console and they constantly slip as I’m trying to reel the boards in. Is there something I can do to make the clamps more effective and keep them locked in place?

Try putting a piece of rubber/vinyl hose over the vertical rails for the planer reel to “bite” into.  I’ve found that to help.

Thank you I’ll try that. Last year I wrapped the rail with some electrical tape but the clamp just ended up shredding it
