Browns in Mexico Bay 4/30

Recommended Posts

8 browns in the cooler this morning. We threw back more than we kept.  12 to 20 feet worked well. Top 2 spoons were glow green alewife and dirty broomstick. Top stickbait was bay rat ridin dirty.

2 of us boxed out by 8:30 am, many browns in mexico bay today. Pickleseed, lances 2face led the bites. It was one of those days you always wait for and wish you took more people,,,lost a heavy brown just before netting as my 8-15lb test brand new riverside pole broke in half, never had that happen in 30 years of fishing. Haven't been bummed over losing a fish in a  long while,,,He was huge!

Saturday was an easy and very fun day to fish. Today was slow a steady.  We caught 9 this morning.  Hot spoons were die hard uv and nbk uv. Jailbreak was the hot stickbait.

Didn’t really seems to matter on Sunday. Typical spring brown pattern. We went 11/12. Caught fish in 9ft and caught fish in 30ft. Trolled the east shore from Mexico point launch to salmon river and back past Mexico point to the west to catfish and caught fish everywhere in between. Only thing we didn’t get was anything of size. All in the 18-24in range

I would agree. We fished West of the state launch at the Little Salmon River to the plant.  10 to 25 feet going 2.1 to 2.6.

Look for.the colored water, if you find yourself in the gin clear water, chances are the bite will slow down. We caught fish just a half mile west from Mexico launch . Things lined up good last weekend with strong west winds for couple days then settled down and left good color and fish close to shore. Heck the Saturday before browns were slow and charters went for Lakers so you never know.
