Saturday 6/11 Sandy Creek

Recommended Posts

We were humbled this morning...three skippies in the first few minutes, then a single domestic rainbow before quitting after 3 hours. Gorgeous day, water temp 60F top to bottom. We worked 80-200 fow, focusing mainly around 160-170. There were a good number of boats out, looked like 200-250 was the zone. I hope they did better than us.

I need to relocate to Cape Cod for the month of June.

First day with the new boat

I managed one skipper and had another knock off but that was it . Fished dawn till 8

Both hits came 75 down .

Nice boat with nice equipment . But I miss the hard top .

Same story for us today. Fished first light till 9:45. Ended 2/5. Worked 80 to 280. 140 to 160 was most productive. We did lose a nice king that broke the flasher fly leader 😭. I had caught a lot of fish on that fly. It must have had a knick in the leader

Between the moon and transition, the bite has to be tough right now. I'll get out in a week or so and give it another try. Fishing on the west end this spring was pretty good and lot's of skippy sized fish so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Thanks for the report

Tough day , one hit on wire dipsy 170 FOW  got off after little run. Then nothing finally set up for Lakers got 3 and one brown in 120 FOW  . On the way in engine started vibrating and quit , flywheel bolts broke , at least found out kicker does almost 7 miles an hour

After ready Gator’s report had second thoughts about going out but I had to do  some bunk work on the trailer and have been having issues with the kicker, so decided to go. Launched and headed west in about 200ft. Put a meat rig down about 150 and mag spoon down 120. Marked fish deep so put riggers there. Kicker conked out after half an hour so used the big motor. Put out a dipsy on 2 setting out 275 with FF and shortly after got hit with a coho. Set it out again and same thing. This time could tell it was a better fish. Got tangled in my downrigger but able to net it. Always an adventure netting salmon on your own. Fished 3 hours total. Nice night to be out

Was out of sandy today too from around 8-12 today, just enough action for us to keep the boys interested but not too crazy to keep up with. Finished 7-12, 3 decent, 4 shakers, worked 150-250. These guys are hooked!

We fished Sandy yesterday. We boated 11 kings. Kept 3 between 11 and 18lbs, 1 shaker that came in dead and released 7 shakers that swam away healthy. Riggers were at 90 to 105 ft, dipseys out 250 at 2 setting, had 1 fish on 300 copper with 12oz torpedo in front of it. All on spoons, Magnums seemed to do it the best. Good luck!

Fished in tandem with placemm and only managed 2 kings all morning.  One hit on a chinook #2 on a 2 setting out 330 with a carbon 14.  Other fish was on a 330 copper line with same spoon. Definitely the most boats I've seen out this year, but lake conditions were great on a Saturday so it's to be expected.   We were seeing long stretches of bait out past 150 to 200.

We went out of Braddocks from 6-12. Went 2 for 4. One keeper king and one big laker. Lots of marks from 120-180 early, then really quiet screen after 10am. Both good runs came from dipsies out 180' over 180 FOW. Laker did laker stuff.

Bite turned off after 10am.

Thats awesome man loved seeing the young ones pumped like that and getting into the sport. Need more of them to get hooked like that.
