  1. Looks like I might get out tomorrow around salmon river....looking for a little help...I have j plugs and a few flasher/fly combos...2 walker lake master downriggers...3 trolling rods. Last week I noticed people were still running ff combos...I thought this late in the season was mostly for plugs....also I forgot what speed for trolling...2.5? So really don't need bags or buckets? Also what channel do average joes use out there? Anyone gonna be out around the salmon river tomorrow? Looks like the lake is gonna settle down!!! THANK YOU for any help!!!

Sent from my Z930L using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  2. I had that happen once before...so I left it unplugged until I got home to inspect it...assuming a broken wire or bad ground....found nothing and it works fine now...So I am at a loss as well...maybe just a bad connection...

  3. Sweet boat...the family will appreciate the cover to get out of the weather!  Anyways, did you choke it?  Just asking because I did not know at first that you have to push the key in to choke it as you start it.....

Oh BTW.....check the TETHER SWITCH!!!!  That has gotten me once also!!

  4. I have the same exact problem right now....finally got it started, guess it was the engine de-compression valve...was told by a mechanic that this is most likely caused by dirty oil :o ...lack of oil changes....yeah that sounds about right in my case, I was buying a house and moving, and didnt give it the attention it should have! He also said these de-compression valves can be freed up by dumping some kero in the oil fill! Mine got freed up when it was 95 degrees out for a week and I just happened to try to start it. Was a very frustrating spring because like your neighbor, I tore the whole thing apart, bought a new battery, check solenoid, check starter......ended up buying a new mower which is ok but I wish I didnt have to....

  5. Run J-plugs near the mouth of the Salmon River in September. You will not need downriggers. Worked for me on my 14 foot bayliner. Check out the NOAA wave and weather reports to make sure it will be calm enough (do a search for that info. or I will post later when I have time)

Also have all the safety gear and marine radio, and common sense, and you will have blast.........

  6. Thanks for the help guys, I had a choice of the proper screw-driver or a nice impact set for the same price, so i went with the impact driver. They have a really nice set at Autozone for $9.99 and it comes with 4 bits, 2 slotted, 2 phillips, and they are big in size...(You will have to do a search on their website for the part #, because they will not know what you are talking about no matter how long you describe it!!!!!!!)

    Thanks again,

    Mike

  7. Other than running the whole unit over with a bulldozer?? JUST kidding, but this is a real pain in the butt. I have sprayed with WD40, but it won't budge. I was able to get the top plug loose, but the bottom will not move. This is the first gear oil change since I have had the boat, so I don't know how long it has been since last change. Also, does anyone know about how much oil it should take??

    Thanks for any tips.

    Mike
