I'm planning on using a 19 foot sylvan with a 100 hp merc ( set up with a trolling plate ) for trolling on lake ontario

Not going out real far and picking my days (weather).

Does anyone see any issues using a 2 stroke over extended hours for trolling

Has anyone used the 360 HT fishing rod holders from Cabelas They appear to be very solid but are made of some type of a plastic type material. The price looks reasonable but am a little concerned if they will take the rigors of salmon trolling.

Has any one tried to use a shoot thru the hull tranducer on an aluminum boat

I've read about a vexilar transducer that is supposed to work with a variety of different makes of fishfinders. But would like to hear from someone who has successfully used a shoot thru the hull on an aluminum boat.

I'm open for other ideas mounting a transom mount transducer but having a great deal of trouble getting a clean image over 5 - 6 mph

Hi everyone I'm looking to get started salmon/trout fishing in the point breeze ( oak orchard ) area and am looking for a source for topo maps or fishing " hot spots "
