  2. No doubt about that Chrome. I wasn't directly in the pack, I was a bit west of them approx. 1/4 mile. Seemed to hook up (steelhead)most when heading east but by the time I needed to turn I was close to the others. I use the same logic out on the lake as I do in the streams, heavy pressure and when they are shallow makes for tight lips...so I try to keep a distance when possible. So I had some water to myself and unfortunatly...no decent Kings.

  3. Nice Tim, beautiful fish!! I was out Saturday with my father around 7am to about 3pm. Fished from the barn to port. I only did about 11 fish 2 small kings and rest steelhead. I seem to be getting mainly steelhead...any advise for a newer guy on getting into some kings?? I just installed my fishhawk and was in the temp range 44-49 speed was 1.8-3.1 all day and marking bait. Tried changing directions on them...as well as I could in the zoo that was out there in the morning  counted 46 boats at 1 time. I've gotten into some salmon this year but nothing consistent like you always seem to do. Thanks,

    Scott

  4. I have a 2002 135. In the morning I give it a nice heavy run out to where I want to fish then troll around for a few hours. I like to move around so I pull the rods and get on it for a while. My dad and I were out a few weeks ago and we didn't really get on it at all...3/4 of the day the motor seemed to start acting up. He suspected it was doing so because we hadn't ran faster than 2-3mph all day, even when we went out to where we were fishing we were trying to dial in the Hds5 fishfinder so we crawled out. We checked the oil lvls, all was well so called it a day and ran it hard for a while, haven't had any problems since.

  5. I have the HDS5 also. I see the weights if Im trolling slow, if I speed up I loose the lower cannonball. I run mine with auto sensitivity on and at 83khz. I keep the transducer level, no tilt. Tried playing with all the features for a day on the water and got no where, it seemed to make it worse (not a very user friendly unit in my opinion)

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

    ====================

Had the Fience and a couple friends out...thought the fireworks were tonight in Olcott, guess they were yesterday. Had a good night of fishing though. Got into some nice Kings. Decent sizes this weekend unlike last week, only 1 little guy. Biggest was 25lbs, avg. seemed between 8-16lbs. Got into a couple steelies also.

Hot lure was Defenitly the DW 42nd spoon late. Ended up running these on both rigger sides and producing on both. Only had 2 fish on flies.

Flea's seemed to be getting a bit thicker also.

  7. I looked up what oil to use for this motor (I want to have a spare gallon on board) and it says to get MERCURY MARINE

    Performance DFI Oil

This oil is for 2 cycle motors...I could have sworn this motor was a 4 stroke. Stroke and cycle are the same thing correct??

The guy at west marine told me to get MERCURY MARINE

    Precision 4-Cycle Oil.

    I really don't want to make a mistake here...haha

Anyone have the same motor, once again it's a 2002 mercury optimax 135 outboard

  8. I have a 21' 2002 trophy. It's enough to handle most of the chop the lake has thrown so far, gotta know when not to go out I've learned :D I guess the only thing I would have done different is looked for something with a little more room(beam wise) to help handle the chop. I can fit 3 guys fishing comfortably...anything more is a cluster.

  9. Hahaha I hear ya about filling at the end of the day! 4 am was awful. It was my 1st time out for the year and couldn't get to the station the night before. I know the guage works, and the boat was level at the pump...had that problem last year :D I'll have to see where I can get to the vent hose, everything in the boat isn't very accessable...hard to even run the wires for my finder and fishhawk. Thanks for the Info RYE!!

  10. I was trying to fill my tank the other day...it was at half full. I got about 15 gallons in and the gas would overflow. I'd stop and the gas would go down and I could pump for another 30 seconds or so untill it would do this again. Needless to say it took forever to get the tank just over 3/4 full. I couldn't see a screen in the gas inlet and the vent seemed to be venting on the side. Anyone ever run into this and what can I do to correct it. Nothing like being at the gas pump over 30 min at 4 am...bad enough its about $3.95 a gallon :@

    Thanks guys, Scott

  11. If you could only take a few Flashers out what would your top 5 be? With all the colors I'm curious to see what you guys recomend, I'm sure you've all been doing this longer than me. This will be year 2 out on the lake for me. Did well last year but always looking for advise. Thanks guys

  12. This is my first year of bringing a boat out in the spring after its been winterized. Do I have to take the boat back to a shop so they can de-winterize or do I just charge batteries, bleed out the anti-freeze from the pumps at home, take it to the lake and turn the key? Like I said it's a 2002 135HP Mercury optimax outboard.
