  1. I have had very good luck trolling fly Rods with either full sinking lines or sink tips and deep diving stick baits (10-16ft). With the sinking links you will get 2-3ft more depth. Troll less than 1mph and as close to shore as possible. You will pick up a laker this way as well. Run you lines about 100ft behind the boat. Look for any place there is run off coming into the lake.

    Hi all! I recently took up fly fishing for steelhead. Wow what a time! I went to the salmon river for my first outting. Now I am hooked! I live in Canandaigua. I don't really know the area as far as good fishing spots goes. I went out on my own this past tuesday to Mill creek in Webster. No luck, the water was way low and super clear. I still had a blast tho. I definitely want to learn the smaller tributaries near rochester. Anywho, great site. I am finding lots of good threads to read.
