I had a good day with Capt. Ken (Off the Hook) too. Mixed bag of cohos, kings, lake, brown and rainbow trout. We caught 12 or more on a whole variety of baits. a great start to my 2011 season.

Has anyone been out from Rochester in the last few days? I have my first charter of the season with Off the Hook on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to kicking off a new season.

Well the fishing off Rochester this spring has been fantasic. The past 5 trips have been nothing short of awsome and today was no exception.

I have been asked by a number of people what makes a Great charter instead of a good one. Today was a perfect example.

First we had a great group of guys from York PA. One of the guys was in his mid 40's and has NEVER caught a fish in his life...I mean not even a sun fish! Well we popped his cherry today big time and now he is a fishing manic. Second anytime you have a party that tells you that they have had more than enough fish on for one day and tell you to head in early...it's a great day. Next we return to dock to photo and fillet, my group fires up the gas grill and does a full blown cook out for everyone at dock.

this is a perfect example of a great day and today was it!

Catch - mostly coho's and steelhead, with browns in the mix and an atlantic.

Have you been out this week? I have my first charter of the season on Saturday with Off the Hook. Its great to be starting a new season!

Try some 3 and 4 inch pearl and white sliver flake flukes on a 3/4 oz. Northland glow jig. Fish off the points. Vertical jig. If you see suspended fish on the electronics fish in that depth or from the bottom to slightly above that depth. Sometimes spray scent and/or a buck shot rattle in the fluke will help. Try your trolling rig with a med. size silver or gold Rapala with 1 large treble hook at the tail instead of all the little hooks. Try Xraps and Rapalas around stone piles near the shoreline for smb. Work a Spro frog through the weeds for LMB. You'll catch some big pickerel while trying for bass so you'll want rather heavy mono or they will bite off. Have fun. Consider catch and release on the game fish.
