  1. Good discussion. I spent a lot of time trolling g in Lake Erie out of Erie PA or Barcelona with my old boat. Had 2 down riggers both with black round balls. One side had a prism silver stickers on the fin. It was interesting to note that there were days when one worked better than the other. I tried running same lure on both with different drop back distances. It was hard to pattern.

  2. We fished on the west end 2 walleye and lots of pickeral. The pickeral still had firm eggs,in them. Walleye were caught midday shallow water

  3. When I get back to dock and preparing to clean fish I take a pair of scissors and cut the gills on, each side. I, put fish back in, live well to bleed out. Fillet texture is good and no blood in fillet. Been doing it this way for years.

  4. I enjoyed camping right across from the launch. Interesting to see folks launch their boats and have some trouble. I thought that it was interesting to see people tie up after putting their boats in water so no one else can put their boat in water. There is a reason that the dock is really long.

The dry erase boards on the decks was a nice touch for scoring the boat launches.

  5. We had a really great time

Nice lake and the campground was nice.

It was fun to talk walleye fishing with everyone.

We fished pretty hard and caught a lot of other fish. Learned a lot on my techniques.

Things we tried, flatline, small planer boards with long body deep divers in various colors. Dipsey diver with rapelas in various colors. Work harness, Hot n Tots, Shad Raps. About the only thing we did not try was jigging.

I really like to look at other boats to see how they have them rigged. Not sure i will have as many rod holds on my boat as Justin has. That is nice fishin/trolling platform.

We ate pretty good, lots of good food.

We will be back again, maybe later this summer or September

If the event is held again next summer, I want to make sure that we are signed up.

Already making minor changes to my trolling setup based on talking to Justin and a few others. Thanks for the tips and ideas.

    Thanks

  6. Nice picture

Same thing happened to us while on a fly in trip in Canada

We hooked a pike and let it go before it was ready, it was struggling on the surface and an Eagle came down and picked it up less than 20 yards from the boat.

Pretty neat to see but we were unable to get a picture

  7. I used to use fireline on all my rods.  I have a few line counters loaded with Berkly XT that get used quite a bit

Recently I have spooled a few rods with power pro and it seems to work pretty good.

Problem with fireline is it gets light in color and not easy to tie knots with after a while.

I like the no stretch feature of the superlines

  8. THANKS FOR THE REPLIES

Looking to get out in the next week or so, take a half day of vacation and fish the afternoon bite or a whole day and fish the morning bite.

Trouble is I live in Rochester and it is just over an hour for me to get to the small boat harbor to launch.

Hate to drive over and find bad conditions that prevent us from going out

    Thanks
