  1. caught a few keepers first week of May in the outlet, north end of lake. Fished by the lock nearly right behind Wegmans. Have not been able to get out for them since.  I think it may be late for catching them there, I might get out this weekend and I will let you know if I find any.  They should be in post spawn pattern.

  2. Thanks for the info, have to look into those death traps .  Yeah, Gambler has responded with some really good suggestions that I will be employing next time out.

Great bunch of guys here with a wealth of knowledge.

  3. Thorough and knowledgeable response great_laker and good information.  No worries then concerning fishing in deeper waters.

I’ve seen stream caught brown trout struggle to recover when released during summer months so much that I don’t fish for them until the water gets cold again.  But that’s more a fatigue related problem I think.

  4. I was wondering if there are survival statistics re: survival probability of lake trout released at the boat when caught in 100’ of water or deeper.

I generally release most that I catch but I have been fishing shallower water but now that I’m after deeper water fish I wonder if there is something that I can do to improve the chances for survival of the fish that I release.

Is there anywhere to launch a small boat anywhere near hammondsport?  I don’t need a dock but need to be able to back a 16 ft boat in.   Thanks.

Have you considered putting in at Keuka Lake State Park   Short ride from there. I put in there and fish branchport

sorry didn’t read your post close enough hammondsport is on the opposite end.  lol

  6. Thanks Gambler, I was wondering why I cant catch a cold out there. lol   I've been running UV gamblers behind #4 - 4 blade flashers at 2.7 mph.

My setup has 20 oz weight on bottom of 3-way swivel with 15" dropper; flasher connected to swivel with 2' 30lb mono, gambler connected to flasher with 2' leader.  30lb stainless steel wire from top of swivel up to rod and reel. Reel holds 600' of stainless + 200 yards of backing.

Would you or any of the other knowledgeable fishermen offer any tweeks that I should make to my setup?

    Thanks

    Dave
