Right, definitely completely different tactics. I get my cats in Michigan. Grand river primarily. St Joseph and Kalamazoo rivers are also good. We don't get the Giants in Michigan but fun nonetheless. That was my best at 32 4. Bigger flats are predators, they won't touch dead bait. I fished for years and never hooked a pig. Tried live bait and heard about bullheads. Sure enough, started hitting pigs regularly.

Yes, flatheads like bullheads. The seem to have an instinctual sense of hatred for bullheads. Some of my largest flatties and insane strikes have come on 6 inch bullheads

Bullhead are catfish. Are they not?

I launch out of Selkirk state park. Haven't been on the pond at all this summer I fish west of the pond on the big water. I do know the pond was extremely low this spring.

On the water at 6:30. Ran out to 150 fow. Marked a couple stragglers right away. Dropped down to 75 in 150 . 9:00 brought a 27 lb king. While fighting it another took dipsy with FF. Took off screaming and broke off the whole rig. Ended at noon with one king one brown. No bait fish anywhere, just occasionally a single straggler.

hit some lakers in 120 fow out of selkirk 60-70 down on sunday. good bite once i found some fish. hit some browns in 85 fow tuesday 40-50 down. tough bite tuesday worked really hard for a couple bites.

1991 16 foot alumacraft, all welded construction. 1985 35hp evinrude.. jet was installed in 2008. decks were rebuilt/ re-carpeted in `08 also. rod holders, livewell, electric anchor winch for 25 lb anchor, bilge pump, good tires on trailer with a spare. the boat has seen a lot of use so the carpet is not beautiful, the boat has some minor bumps and dings, like i said, it has been used almost weekly for 5 years. excellent river rig! runs perfectly and i will test run it with potential purchaser. $2500

I have consulted an expert with these outdrives (my brother) . He says typically its the Lower shift cable. The cable stretches over time and typically shows symptoms when used after storage. Hope it helps.

Ive relocated from Michigan to Mexico ny. Is it odd that I decided my relocation based on fishing opportunity? I have a couple boats, and fish regularly. Big lake to small rivers. I do it all. Michigan is a boaters paradise east shore of lake o is a fishing paradise . this is my second summer around here and the fishing is amazing.

I have had good success in afternoons in clear and cloudy skies. The key for my luck seems to be when the water is stirred up from wave action. I think they avoid the very clear water. Also seems they run very shallow in such conditions. 6 FOW has been very productive. I am usually the only boat in that shallow. But ive pulled limits in under an hour. With the cloudy water, a bait with aggressive action seems to produce. The trout are full of small 3" or so gobies. I try to mimic that with a chartreuse or blue bait.
